Bed & Breakfast at the edge of Antwerp

Do come in.

The drive draws you in, away from the noise of the city.
At the end of it, everything falls quiet. Welcome to our bed & breakfast.

It's summer: it stays cool under the old trees, and the pond lies quite still.

IThe garden

A well-kept secret
on the edge of Antwerp

Trees that have stood here for more than a hundred years. A large swimming pond where the ducks do the talking. Quiet, and yet full of life.

+ the quacking ducks
They live here, along with the goldfish in the pond. And they'll happily come and see who's staying.
+ trees over 100 years old
The park was here long before the city grew around it. The birds come right up to your balcony.
+ fresh eggs
Our hens lay them. You eat them in the morning.
+ the garden this season
The pond at its very best. In the evening the candles are lit in the garden and the greenhouse fills with light.
The swimming pond with the house behind it, in summer light
The ducks and the goldfish together in the pond
The living room with its leather sofa, green armchair and a view of the summer garden
IIThe living room

Where the house lives

A book, a deep armchair and, in winter, the wood fire crackling. This is where we serve breakfast too — for two rooms, never for a crowd.

+ the crackling fire
In winter we put another log on in the evening. Do pull up a chair.
IIIThe rooms

Two rooms. That's all.

That's deliberate: our B&B has just the two rooms, and that keeps the house ours, and the quiet yours.

The business room, the bed made up and coffee on the side table

The business room

quiet work · a proper rain shower

A solid wooden desk you can genuinely work at, and calm north light that stays soft and even all day. In the morning, wake up soaked under a proper rain shower and start the day fresh.

+ what you'll find there
A proper rain shower · private bathroom · a solid desk to work at · fast wi-fi · coffee machine and fridge · parking included

from 195 euro per night, breakfast included

The romantic room, bathrobes on the hook and a view through to the freestanding bath in the bay window
A rose in a red vase by the seating corner

The romantic room

bath · private balcony over the garden

Lie back in the bath, or in the chairs on your own balcony, while the sun comes up over the pond and the birds settle in right beside you.

+ what you'll find there
Freestanding bath · private balcony with armchairs · view over the garden & pond · morning sun · small desk · private bathroom · fast wi-fi · coffee machine and fridge · parking included

from 215 euro per night, breakfast included

Both rooms · fresh breakfast, parking and wi-fi included · ask about availability

On top of that there is only the Antwerp tourist tax, 3.60 euro per person per night. And a 50 euro deposit, which you simply get back after your stay. You pay in advance by bank transfer, so there's no card reader at the door. No other surprises.

IVBreakfast

Breakfast with a gold rim

Made fresh, every morning. Eggs from our own hens, local ingredients and, when the garden allows, some lettuce or strawberries alongside. Served on grandma's china — the set with the gold rim.

Take your time. The day starts slowly here.
And there's often something freshly baked with the coffee.

VThe city & work

Quiet, right at the edge of the bustle

Antwerp city centre

A quarter of an hour into town by bike, along the cycle street and over the cycle bridge. The tram takes twenty minutes. The Meir, the cathedral, the MAS and the Scheldt: all within easy reach. In the evening you come back here to the quiet.

AFAS Dome (Sportpaleis) & Lotto Arena

A quarter of an hour by bike, quicker than the tram. It is precisely why a good many guests sleep here after a concert or a match: once the noise is over you end up in the quiet rather than in a queue of traffic.

Business stays

Meet around our table for ten, stay the night with breakfast, invoice to the company. A B&B rather than a hotel: somewhere to breathe and a base to work from, in one.

Easy to reach

The Merksem Ringlaan tram stop is five hundred metres away, six minutes on foot. Close to the ring road, the E19 and the A12, and free parking on the grounds. Antwerp Central by tram, and from there a direct train to Brussels Airport in half an hour.

Round the corner

Almost everything is within walking distance: a supermarket that opens on Sundays too, a chemist, a baker, and the larger chains a little further on. There are several restaurants nearby, from an Italian in the park to an honest brasserie round the corner. For a walk there's the small park next door, or 't Fortje.

Our own tips

Do ask us where to eat well or where the best walks are. We're happy to share our own spots.
